How I decided to be a therapist
I decided to become a therapist in large part because of my family’s experience immigrating to the United States. Watching them navigate the challenges of adjusting to a new culture, language, and way of life helped me understand how difficult major life transitions can be. I also saw how mental health resources were often underutilized due to stigma, lack of awareness, or discomfort seeking support. These experiences inspired me to become a resource for individuals facing stress, uncertainty, and change. I am passionate about helping people feel understood and supported as they navigate life’s challenges and work toward greater well-being.
How I would like to help clients as a therapist
As a therapist, I strive to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I believe that each person has unique strengths and the ability to grow, even during difficult times. My goal is to help clients better understand themselves, build resilience, and develop practical tools to navigate life’s challenges. Whether someone is facing anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, life transitions, or everyday stress, I hope to support them in creating meaningful and lasting change.
What my theoretical orientation is as a therapist
My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and growth-focused. I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while incorporating DBT-informed interventions, Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed care, and strengths-based approaches. I believe therapy should be tailored to each client's unique needs, experiences, and goals. I work collaboratively with clients to identify patterns that may be contributing to emotional distress and help them develop practical skills to support positive change. As a clinical social worker, I also consider the cultural, environmental, and life circumstances that influence a client’s overall well-being.
