How I decided to be a therapist
From a young age, I was fascinated by understanding people and often turned to self-help books to learn about human behavior and personal growth. My first experience with therapy in high school was transformative and inspired me to pursue a career where I could help others while deepening my understanding of people.
I always knew I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, and after taking a counseling course, I quickly discovered my passion for the field. Each class deepened my interest in understanding human behavior and strengthened my desire to become a therapist who listens with empathy and guides others through life’s challenges. Having experienced firsthand the transformative impact of therapy, I hope to create the same opportunities for healing, growth, and meaningful change for others.
How I would like to help clients as a therapist
My goal is to walk alongside my clients as they navigate their life journeys. I hope to create a safe, supportive space where they feel comfortable exploring their emotions, discovering their worth and identity, and realizing their potential. I want to help clients recognize their inner strengths, develop greater self-awareness, and empower them to become the best versions of themselves.
Through personalized goals and strategies, I hope to support clients in building resilience, practicing self-acceptance, and finding greater fulfillment in life. Ultimately, I want to help people navigate the challenges of a broken world, heal from past experiences, and move toward becoming who they want to be. My hope is that each client feels empowered to create a life that reflects their values, aspirations, and authentic self.
What my theoretical orientation is as a therapist
My theoretical orientation is holistic and integrative, recognising that each person’s experiences, relationships, and environment contribute to their overall well-being. I believe no single therapeutic approach fits everyone, and I draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Family Systems Theory, and Motivational Interviewing to inform my work with clients.
I believe that thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and relationships are interconnected and influence how people experience and respond to the world around them. This perspective encourages me to approach each client with curiosity and openness, considering how their individual circumstances, past experiences, and relationships may shape their current concerns. By remaining flexible and collaborative, I hope to work alongside clients in ways that reflect their unique needs, perspectives, and goals.
